What is EAL?
Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is a therapeutic and educational approach that incorporates horses as active participants in the learning process. Unlike traditional horseback riding, EAL focuses on ground-based activities designed to promote personal development and growth. The core philosophy revolves around the idea that horses, as prey animals with heightened sensitivity and perceptiveness, can mirror and respond to human emotions, providing valuable feedback and insights.
In EAL sessions, individuals work closely with horses under the guidance of trained facilitators, engaging in various exercises that address specific learning objectives. These activities are carefully designed to enhance skills such as communication, leadership, problem-solving, emotional intelligence and awareness. Participants are encouraged to observe, interact, and build a connection with the horses, fostering a deeper understanding of themselves and others.

The non-judgmental and responsive nature of horses creates a dynamic and experiential learning environment. Horses react to human cues and emotions, serving as mirrors for participants to recognize and address their own behaviours and communication styles. This immediate feedback facilitates self-awareness, emotional regulation, and the development of interpersonal skills.
EAL is employed in diverse settings, including therapeutic interventions, educational programs, and corporate training. Its holistic approach recognizes the interconnectedness of physical, emotional, and social aspects of learning, making it a powerful tool for individuals seeking personal growth, team building, and enhanced communication skills in a unique and engaging way.
